The History of Netmonster Lottery

It all started with a mouse...

Netmonster Lottery was loosely based on an article by the same name written by Anthony Gill and released on an irregular basis. It chronicled the achievements of the Netmonster community, grounded the game in current events, and had a three species combination drawing. The prize was not named, but we believe it to be an acheivement ribbon for the Netmonster game.

I started writing Netmonster Lottery for an e-zine published by my friends called the Rodentian Dominion Liberation Proclaimation. It was the fictional newspaper for a kingdom of sentient and heroic mice, taken from our DM's campaign setting. It was also published irregularly and had a grand readership of 8 at its heyday.

After the RDLP became our group name, the e-zine eventually passed into obscurity. I still have fond memories of writing a number of silly articles for it and developing a recurring cast of characters in my articles. It was good times. Thanks, Steve. It was an inspired idea.

I kept writing NML because it deserved an ending. I had a lot of love invested in the characters and I felt my continuing readership of 2 deserved to know what happened to Lerris and company. All I had to do was beat the game so my ending would be accurate. Alas, disaster struck. A dead computer took my Netmonster files out and Whitemask Productions was out of commission. I was stuck.

But just like at the Search Engine Sea, data never really dies on the internet. A flash of nostalgia led one of my loyal readers to the Wayback Machine and a little bit of URL manipulation later, the NMRC was back in business. Some quick searching found many of the old sites on Netmonster deleted or fractured. Netmonster Lottery had been deactived on tripod, but somehow was still accessible. So we started rebuilding.

Like our namesake, publication will continue to be irregular. I've got a lot of projects in the air, but Pidedis, WYMB, Wyran, and the gang will never let me rest until the tale has been told. We hope the concluding arc of NML will satisfy all of your questions.

If you've stumbled across NML, you're probably here looking for a shot of nostalgia or the info on Netmonster secrets. Use them in good health and with our blessing. I'll try to keep the site up as long as I can and I hope you learn to love Netmonster and NML as much as I have. Viva la NMRC, and thank you for joining us in the next chapter of NML's journey.
